WHAT IS TASSEL TALK?

Tassel Talk is a Seattle-based community program, created with the goal of improving and enriching the Seattle Burlesque & Solo Performance scene.

Originated by Sara Dipity and Bunny Von Bunsmore, Tassel Talk originally served burlesque artists who lacked the opportunity to receive peer review and critique for acts in development. Post-pandemic, Sara gave her blessing for Noveltease Theatre to pick up the mantle and revive the program.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • Six burlesque or variety artists sign up to perform their acts before their peers at a free, mid-day showcase with professional sound and lighting.

  • Performers will receive video of their performance, as well as feedback from their peers in the room, lead by three “expert panelists” from a variety of artistic disciplines (dance, burlesque, acting, directing, design, etc) selected by Noveltease to give feedback informed by their specific point of view.

WHEN IS IT?

  • Tassel Talk is currently a bi-annual program.

  • The first Tassel Talk is scheduled for 4/20, with a second session TBD in November 2024.

WHO IS IT FOR?

  • Although geared toward burlesque, a solo artist in any discipline can sign up to have an act reviewed at Tassel Talk.

  • Any member of the burlesque, circus, variety, or theatre communities is welcome to attend Tassel Talk and offer peer feedback.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

  • Tassel Talk is a FREE community program! There is no cost to receive peer review and no cost to attend.

  • Tassel Talk is usually paired with an add-on workshop from one of our expert panelists. The workshop price is set by the instructor. (You do not need to attend Tassel Talk to take the workshop.)
